Clear Cookies and Cache
Oftentimes, internet browsers will save information for websites that you visit often in order to reduce the amount of load time next time you visit. The information saved is referred to as cookies and the location in which website information is saved is called your cache. This can become problematic if the browser caches a website that is experiencing an issue because, even if the issue has been solved, the cache will continue to show the error. In order to resolve this, you will need to clear your cookies and cache.
Before you clear your cookies and cache, open a private or incognito browser, access the page, and see if you are still experiencing issues. Using a private or incognito browser allows you to use the browser without cookies or cache. If that fixes the issue, you will know you need to clear cookies and cache. |
Below we have provided a few links that explain how to clear cookies and cache on various browsers:
Effect of clearing cache and cookies: Keep in mind that clearing your cache and cookies erases your settings for websites. Here are some examples:
- If you opted to have sites remember your username and password, they will be cleared from your browser's memory when you clear cache and cookies, and you'll have to sign in again.
- Websites might load a little slower because all of the images and content pieces have to be loaded from scratch.
