At the bottom of the configuration page, you’ll find the Field Mappings. This is where you decide which contact information is kept in sync for each contact.
Default Field Mapping
PieSync will have automatically provided you with a list of Default Field Mappings. These are mappings made up out of the fields that come standard in each app. PieSync will have mapped the fields that both apps have in common. For instance: if both apps have a default first name field, then PieSync will have included that field in the Default Field Mappings.
Below you’ll find a screenshot of what the mapping looks like when you connect Google Contacts with KWCommand:
You can disable default field mappings by toggling the green switch to the right of them to ‘off’. Doing so will allow you to remap them. Which brings us to the next section.
Customizable Field Mappings
Customizable Field Mappings or custom field mappings are mappings you can create yourself either with default fields or with fields you’ve created in your app.
By default, the custom mappings will sync in the direction you have set up in the configuration of your connection, so this could be either two-way or one-way. However, you are often able to change the sync direction of your custom field mappings.
Note that you aren’t able to map any field to any other field. There are some restrictions that will limit what you’re able to do. If you aren’t able to set-up the field mapping that you desire, please consult this troubleshooting article that explains these restrictions. In case you want to map fields like ‘Source’, ‘Tags’ or ‘Owner’, please consult this FAQ article [link to How do I sync Lead Source or Contact Ownership? article] for a workaround.
